On the 19th<\/sup> of August Anna Viktorovna Gromova, a Senior Lecturer of the Department of Iranian Philology of the Institute of Asian and African Countries of Lomonosov Moscow State University, delivered a lecture \u201cIranian coffee shop: a travel from traditional chaikhaneh to a coffee shop of the XXI century\u201d at the Centre of Oriental Literature of the Russian State Library.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The fact that Iranians love tea is well known. But coffee also has its honored place among Iranian favourite drinks. More and more coffee shops are being opened in Iran, and they attract coffee lovers. What is \u201cchaikhaneh\u201d, \u201cqahvehhaneh\u201d and \u201csofrehkhaneh\u201d and its role in the Iranian culture of communication? What do coffee shop\u2019s names mean? What can you see inside Iranian coffee shops? What is the link between coffee and \u201cShakhnameh\u201d? A .V. Gromova covered all these items in her speech.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The event was organized and held in the framework of collaboration between the Centre of Oriental Literature of the Russian State Library and Ibn Sina Foundation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
