On the 14 of November the lecture “Iranian Knights: the power of traditions on the border of eras” was held at the Library of National Literatures with the assistance of Ibn Sina Foundation in cooperation with this Library. It was delivered by Elena Igorevna Malozyomova, a specialist on the Orient and Iran, a Candidate of historical sciences, the senior research scholar of the Department “Arsenal” of the State Hermitage, a specialist on military horsemanship and weapons culture of Iran.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Elena Igorevna spoke on the Iranian horsemanship culture that was viewed as a knight culture by specialists. Based on the analysis of texts and artworks the lecturer investigated the history of Iranian knights. She discussed ancient origins and the development of the horsemanship culture in Iran with the guests of the event; she also acquainted them with researchers’ approaches to the Iranian knight culture.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
