On October 31 the International Symposium “Russia-Iran: the Role of Culture in Interethnic Dialogue” was held at the Saint Petersburg State Institute of Culture (SpSIC). The event was organized with the assistance of Ibn Sina Foundation.<\/p>\n

Russian and Iranian art, cultural interaction between two countries and representation of traditional values in cultural artefacts were among the top issues discussed at the Symposium.<\/p>\n

The Rector of the Institute A.S. Turgaev and the President of Ibn Sina Foundation Hamid Hadavimoghaddam pronounced their greeting speeches at the Solemn Opening Ceremony. Both pointed to the importance of strengthening cultural relations between two countries. The Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Iran in the Russian Federation Kazem Jalali referred to the audience via video record.<\/p>\n

A wide circle of items were discussed at the work of sections: from cultural diplomacy and mutual influence in the area of art to cinema films analysis. Some reports of Iranian scholars were dedicated to the development of Iranian studies in Russia, the comparison of L.N. Tolstoy’s and J.Rumi’s ideas, and to interrelation between Iranian and Russian art.<\/p>\n

Ibn Sina Foundation granted a collection of its books to the library of the Institute.<\/p>\n

The Symposium became an important platform for scientific and cultural cooperation between Russia and Iran.<\/p>\n
