On May 28 the meeting of “Nour-e Iran” (“The Light of Iran”) Cinema Club organized with the assistance of Ibn Sina Foundation and the Oriental Cultural Centre of the Institute of Oriental Studies of the Russian Academy of Sciences was held in Moscow. The romantic comedy “Coma” by Arash Moayerian (2004) was shown and discussed at the meeting.
The event began with a short presentation of the film, its place in Iranian cinema and specific features of the genres. This ironic and touching love story was provided with the simultaneous translation by Svetlana Tarasova, a graduate student of the Institute of Oriental Studies of the Russian Academy of Sciences. The film helped to understand cultural aspects of Iranian cinema discourse better and deeper.
After that the audience discussed the film with an expert in the area of Iranian culture. Participants shared their impressions comparing this comedy with other Iranian films.
