On June 16 the 4th meeting of “Nour-e Iran” Cinema Club was held with the assistance of Ibn Sina Foundation at the Oriental Cultural Centre of the Institute of Oriental studies of the Russian Academy of Sciences. Guests watched the Iranian Cinema Masterpiece “Mother’s Guest” (2003) by Dariush Mehrjui. This is a touching comedy providing spectators possibility to enjoy a spirit of Iranian cinema . The film won the main Iranian film award “Crystal Simourg”.
After the screen a live discussion was held with the participation of Hossein Salari who is an Iranian filmmaker and operator. He shared some interesting facts about Mehrjui’s artworks and Iranian cinema language.
Thanks to synchronous translation by Svetlana Sarasota, a Ph.D student of the Institute of Oriental Studies of the Russian Academy of Sciences, spectators could enjoy specific features of dialogues and subtle humour common for Iranian cinema.
