The Iranian film “The Devil’s Day” screened at “Nur-e Iran” Cinema Club

On July 15 the 6th meeting of “Nur-e Iran” Cinema Club took place at the Oriental Cultural Centre of the Institute of Oriental Studies of the Russian Academy of Sciences. The film “The Devil’s Day” by Behrouz Afhami (1994) was screened at the meeting. Intellectual cinema lovers not only gathered at the meeting in order to watch the flm but also discussed it with the filmmaker and operator Hossein Salari.

The program started from the film presentation provided by a small lecture on Behrouz Afhami’s art heritage. After that the film with a simultaneous translation by the Institute Ph.D. student Svetlana Tarasova was screened at the meeting. And then a discussion with Hossein Salari also took place: the filmmaker answered spectators’ questions.

“The Devil’s Day” is a tense spy thriller that touches on the Iranian nuclear program and international intrigue. Though the film was made almost 30 years ago its plot remains strikinging relevant. Spectators noted a dynamic  rhythm, meaningful dialogues and a high-class operator’s work.

The organizers express their gratitude to those who attended the event and created a warm friendly atmosphere. They kindly invite them to new meetings where new masterpieces of the Iranian cinema are going to be screened.

The event was held with the assistance of the Oriental Cultural Centre of the Institute of Oriental Studies of the Russian Academy of Sciences and Ibn Sina Foundation.
