On September 26, 27 and 29 a series of events dedicated to Persian miniature were held at the Russian National Library with the assistance of Ibn Sina Foundation.
On the first day the opening ceremony of the exhibition and three days program of master classes by Hossein Esmati, a miniaturist from Iran, was held. Evgeny Alexandrovich Lakhovitsky, who is the Chief of the Federal Centre for Conservation of Russian National Library Foundations, pointed to the importance of holding such events because they are very useful for cultural exchange between Russia and Iran. He said that this program with Esmati is a start for official cooperation between the Russian National Library and Ibn Sina Foundation that has started in 2025. The Foundation representative Majid Bolhasani described the key dimensions of Foundation’s activities and expressed his gratitude to the leadership of the Russian National Library for supporting initiatives and arranging the event.
After that Hossein Esmati held an exhibition of his artworks, spoke on the history of Persian miniature and various forms of traditional paintings, and on materials and techniques that were being used by a master in his artworks.
The Iranian miniaturist held three master classes for guests of the event. Under his guidance they got acquainted with ancient techniques and materials, and created their own artworks in this unique style.
Hossein Esmati participated in many international exhibitions and used to be a jury member at some festivals. He is a practicing Iranian artist and experienced teacher. In his artworks he combines traditional miniature technoques with the modern approach to art.
