The First Manual “Persian Miniature. Let’s Draw Together” by Reza Badr al-Sama Published

The first part of the practical manuals series “People and animals” by Iranian miniaturist Badr al-Sama  was issued by “Sadra” Publishing House with the assistance of Ibn Sina Foundation. This manual teaches the basicals of drawing live beings and discloses the subtleties of conveying human figures’ plastics and the noble grace of animals. Step by step readers will comprehend the art of miniature creation from  a sketch to a completed composition.

Persian miniature is a unique artistic style that has been formed under the influence of the rich cultural heritage of Persia and is based on Oriental philosophy. This genre was flourishing and reached the peak of its development in the epoch of spreading Islam in Iran. Now it is at the new peak thanks to such masters as Hossein Behzad, Mahmoud Farshchian and Reza Badr al-Sama who have revived this ancient tradition.

Ibn Sina Foundation has successfuly cooperated with this Iranian miniaturist for many years. In 2022 Reza Badr al-Sama visited Russia with a series of master classes arranged by the Foundation at the Oriental Cultural Center of the Institute of Oriental Studies of the Russian Academy of Sciences and the Center of Oriental Literature of the Russian State Library. The Foundation also regularly holds exhibitions of his artworks.

The Foundation is planning to publish another manuals of this series: “Flower and Bird” and “Ornaments”. New master classes will be held on the basic of these books.
