Abstract

In his work A.Vaezi systematizes Islamic anthropology from the position of classical sources, such as the Qur’an and Sunnah, Islamic philosophy and the tradition of mysticism. The author describes a human being as an ontologically sophisticated creation who possesses spiritual nature, reason and ethical responsibility, this describing his or her movement towards the Creator as the highest aim of existence.

The author of the book conducts a comparative analysis of the Islamic anthropological model and the main concept of Western philosophical and scientific thought. He pays a special attention to the relations between soul and body, self-knowledge, the ontological status of a human being and metaphysical foundations of humanitarian science.

The book is addressed to specialists in the area of philosophy, theology, Islamic and religious studies, and to everybody who is interested in fundamental problems of anthropology.
