On January 23 and 24, 2026, the VII Winter Translation School of the Saint Petersburg State University held five online lectures delvered by experts in the area of Iranian studies, Persian language teachers from Moscow and Saint Petersburg. The event was organized with the assistance of Ibn Sina Foundation. Bolashenkova Ekaterina Alexandrovna and Ishmuhamedova Anna Ruslanovna, university teachers from the Oriental Faculty of the Saint Petersburg State University; Kuznetsov Alexey Anatolievich, a university teacher from the Institute of Asian and African Countries of the Moscow State University; Lahouti Leili Gasemovna and from the Institute of Oriental Studies of the Russian Academy of Sciences (RAS) and Fyodorva Yuliya Evgeniyevna from the Institute of Philosophy of RAS were among speakers.
Their lectures were dedicated to translation of classical texts of Persian literature (such as poems “Divine Book” and “Language of Birds”) into Russian; usage of CAT-technologies for commercial translation from Persian into Russian and vice versa; translation of Nim Yushij’s poetry and science fiction from English into Persian.
Winter and Summer Translation Schools of the Saint Petersburg State University are major international events that are held twice a year online and gather participants and listeners from various cities and countries. Traditionally the program of these schools includes the main joint program and work of sections (in more than 10 languages), namely master classes, lectures, small conferences and experimental translation workshops held by acknowledged masters of translation.
