Abstract
The book contains a critical text of monument of Samaritan mystical literature of the XVI century, namely the treatise “The Path of the Heart to Comprehending the Lord” (Sair al-Qalb Fi Ma’arfat al-Rabb) by Ibrahim al-Qabasi from Damascus. Published in the original language for the first time, the work by al-Qabasi demonstrates the dependence of some author’s concepts on the Arab-Muslim religious and philosophical context. At the same time, the active use of ideas of Mutakallims, Arab Prripatetics, Ismailis and Sufies helped Ibrahim to add some new ascepts to Samaritan exegesis that led to enrichment of this community’s thought in the XVI-XVIII centuries. Afterwards it was al-Ghazzal ibn ‘Abu Surur (died after 1755) who used the Ishraqite doctrine while commenting the books of Genesis and Exodus.
The book is addressed to specialists on the Bible, philosophy, Islam and other religions, as well as to everybody who is interested in the history of Middle Eastern thought.
