The Scientific Director of Ibn Sina Foundation Andrey Alexandrovich Lukashev granted a physical copy of the manuscript “Notes” by Ibn Fadlan to the Kazan Kremlin Foundation. The manuscript by Ibn Fadlan poses one of the most precious sources on early medieval history of Volga Region and the Central Asia. This is an essay by an Arab traveller and writer about his journey to the Volga Bulgaria in 921-922 as a Secretary at the Embassy of the Abbasid Caliph al-Muqtadir.
The copy of this manuscript was produced by “Nur” Microfilmic Center (New Delhi, India) specially for the Museum. The original manuscript is being preserved in Ostan-e-Qods-e-Razavi Library in Mashhad (Iran).
A.A. Lukashev also donated 50 books published by “Sadra” to the Islamic Culture Museum Library. This book collection includes research works on the history of Islam in Russia, Islamic philosophy, theology and Oriental poetry. The books will be available to library visitors.
