Ibn Sina Foundation Granted a Copy of Ibn Fadlan’s Manuscript and a Series of Books Issued by “Sadra” Publishing House to “The Kazan Kremlin”

February 11 a ceremony of book donation took place at the Museum Reserve “The Kazan Kremlin”. The event was held by the director of the Islamic Culture Museum Ilnour Ildarovich Nizamiev.

On behalf of Ibn Sina Foundation its Scientific Director Andrey Alexandrovich Lukashev granted a physical copy of the manuscript “Notes” by Ibn Fadlan. Ibn Fadlan’s manuscript is a one of the most important sources on the early medieval history of the Volga Region and the Central Asia. This is the report of an Arab traveller, who usee to be an Embassy Secretary of the Abbasid caliph, about his journey to the Volga Bulgaria. The manuscript copy was produced by “Nur” Microfilming Center (New Delhi, India) specially for the museum. The original manuscript is being preserved in the Ostan-e Quds-i Razavi Library in Mashhad (Iran).

A.A. Lukashev also donated more than 50 books issued by “Sadra” Publishing House with the assistance of Ibn Sina Foundation to the Islamic Culture Museum. That collection included works on the history of Islam in Russia, Islamic philosophy and art, theology and Oriental poetry. The books will be available for visitors of the library.
