On the 16 July 2026, the opening ceremony of “From Lasso to Harness” International Exhibition took place at the Museum of K.A. Timiryazev Russian State Agrarian University-The Moscow Agricultural Academy. The exhibition is dedicated to image of a horse as a symbol of freedom, dignity and peace in Iranian and Russian art. The event was held with the participation of Ibn Sina Foundation.
The Director of the Museum Olga Krupodyorova, the Vice President of Ibn Sina Foundation Seyyed Nasser Tabaei, the Vice Cultural Counselor of the Embassy of the Islamic Republic of Iran Zahra Rashidbeigi and the President of Omar Khayyam Cultural and Literary Association Oleg Akulinichev spoke at the opening ceremony. They underlined the importance of such exhibitions for strengthening cultural relations between Russia and Iran. They also pointed to mutual Russian-Iranian influence in the area of literature and arts. S.N. Tabaei and S. RashidbeigI told about the symbolism of horse in the pre-Islamic and Islamic era, stressing that that symbol had deep roots in Iranian mythology and history.
Ibn Sina Foundation granted precious gifts to organizers of the event and provided the exposition by reproductions of Muhammad Zaman’s (1673-1677) miniatures illustarting “Khamseh” by Nizami from Pierpont Morgan’s Library.
The largest collection of Jakov Butovich dedicated to horses became a cornerstone of the exhibition. The portraits of Nasir al-Din Shakh by N.E. Sverchkov, outdoor portraits of imperial horses by A.P. Schvabe, paintings by Grekov, Roubaud and Samokish were among the exhibits. The Iranian Cultural Center presented carpets, fabric and ceramics with images of horses. Ancient engravings and a series of lithographs with portraits of Nicholas II were provided by Svetlana Antoniva.
LLC “TROYA TO” became a partner of the project. The event was held with the assistance of Ibn Sina Foundation, the Iranian Cultural Center and RusPomosh Foundation.
The exhibition will work up to the 26 September 2026 from 10.00 to 17.00 except Saturday and Sunday.
