Ibn Sina Foundation Supported the Publication of “Selected Works on Turkmen Ethnography” by G.I. Karpov

Ibn Sina Foundation and the Russian Foundation for Fundamental Research Works supported the publication of the book “Selected Works on Turkmen Ethnography” by G.I. Karpov. The book was prepared at “Nauka” Publishing House and issued as a part of the series “Ethnographic Library”.

The collection of research  works by the famous expert on Turkmens, the ethnographist and historian G.I. Karpov (1890-1947) contains unique information about the tribal composition of the Turkmens, their ethnic history and social relations both inside of various Turkmen ethnic groups and the Turkmen nation as a whole. The collection is provided by the article about biography and scientific heritage of G.I. Karpov, as well as with rare archive photos.

The works by G.I. Karpov are especially precious from scientific point of view because of its sources and detailed information. But unfortunately most of his works remained unpublished. This book provides specialists with unique materials that are important for further studying the ethnography and ethnology of Turkmens. This is very important for the analysis of current social processes in Turkmenistan.

The book is addressed to ethnographists, historians and orientalists as well as everybody who is interested in Turkmen and Central Asian history and culture.
