On April 25 the second meeting of the cinema club “Nur-e Iran” (“The Light of Iran) took place in Moscow. This is the joint project of Ibn Sina Foundation and the Oriental Cultural Centre of the Institute of Oriental Studies of the Russian Academy of Sciences, and it is dedicated to screening the best samples of Iranian cinema.
During the meeting the film “Mi Like a Mother” by Rasoul Mollagholi Pour that had won numerous awards at international film festivals was shown to the Russian auditory. The project curator Svetlana Tarasova provided a short excourse into the history of Iranian cinema underlining the artistic features of this movie.
After the film screen a discussion with the participation of the Iranian expert Hossein Salari took place. He explained direcror’s concept, symbolic elements of the film and its cultural aspects that may be not evident for foreign auditory.
The cinema club coordinator Lana Ravandi-Fedaei expressed her gratitude to the respected guests. “We are happy that our project gains popularity among Moscow citizens. Each meeting is a possibility for better understanding of the rich Iranian culture with the help of cinema”, – she said.
“Nour-e Iran” cinema club will continue it’s work this screening both classical and contemporary Iranian films. The next meeting is scheduled for May. The organisers promise to announce it soon.
The project has become an important platform for a cultural dialogue and mutual understanding between Iran and Russia by the means of cinema.
