The Cultural Event “Oriental Typographics” held in Moscow with the assistance of Ibn Sina Foundation

On July 18 an interesting event dedicated to Oriental visual culture was held by Ibn Sina Foundation and the British Highеr School of Design at Voznesensky Centre. Art lovers and professionals in the area of design gathered in order to get acquainted with this rich and fascinating culture.

Daniil Ognev, an Orientalist, an Iranianist and the Chief Librarian of the Center of Oriental Literature of the Russian State Library, and Dmitry Krasnov, the British Higher School of Design curator, delivered the lecture “Oriental Writings and Typographics and it’s Difference from the Western Tradition”. The experts explained this difference from the historical point of view and pointed out how this knowledge influenced modern designers’ and researchers’ work.

At the end of the event the documentary “The Dot” by Emir Valinejad that had been created with the assistance of Ibn Sina Foundation was screened thus helping its spectators to comprehend philosophical and aesthetic depth of Iranian calligraphy and other Oriental writings.
