Abstract
The present book is addressed to historians and orientalists. This is a research work on the events of Kerbela and the murder of Prophet Muhammad’s grandson Imam Husain and his companions who uprised against Yazid, a corrupt and injust ruler of his time. The book also covers the destiny of his family members imprisoned in Kerbela. The author of the work investigates the reasons and the history of this uprising based on a huge variety of documental, religious, literature and other sources.
For an advanced reader the end of the book is provided by the names of Kerbela martyrs provided by the links to trustworthy medieval texts.
